At this size the question is not whether invoice finance works, it is whether the facility scales with the ledger. This one was structured to grow with the framework contracts from day one.
The group had outgrown its overdraft twice in three years. Each national framework win was a celebration followed by the same conversation: payroll for hundreds of additional temps starts the first week, the client pays in 45 to 60 days, and the bank wanted more security for every extension.
Two frameworks worth roughly £6m of annual billing were on the table at once. Declining them was unthinkable; funding them from an overdraft was impossible.
We introduced the group to a funding partner that structures facilities for staffing at scale: a £1.6m confidential facility at 85% advance, sized against the projected ledger including both frameworks rather than the historic book.
The facility limit reviews upward automatically as the ledger grows, so the next framework win needs a phone call, not a renegotiation. The overdraft was repaid and the security the bank held was released.
Both frameworks went live on schedule. Headcount peaked at just over 700 temps in the busiest quarter, payroll never slipped, and the group has since priced a third framework bid with the funding cost built into the margin from the start.
Both national frameworks taken on, payroll never slipped
Facility limit grows with the ledger, no renegotiation
Bank overdraft repaid and its security released
